Important School Updates, 4/8/20

Please see the message posted below direct from Principal Crowder.

If one has any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Jim Murphy (Jtmurphy@philasd.org) or Mr. Peter Cassidy (Pccmail94@gmail.com)

Laptops: If you submitted a request to borrow a Chromebook last week, please check your email for an email from a school administrator with the date/time to pick up your laptop next week.

If you missed the original deadline, you have another opportunity to sign up, please use this link:  https://forms.gle/eHC69cjtSWoBcDBY8

The deadline to sign up is this Friday at 11 AM.  You will be contacted by email with a date and time to pick up your laptop.  If you have received a confirmation email from a school administrator on a date/time to pick up a laptop, please do not fill out this form.

The goal of the school district is to ensure that all students who need to borrow a laptop will receive one.  If you are unable to sign up for a laptop at this time, there will be other opportunities to receive a laptop over the next several days, please continue to check your email and our school website:  nehs.philasd.org.

If you need assistance during this time of need with state-government related matters, State Representative Jared Solomon would like to hear from you, he can be reached at 215-342-6340 or https://www.pahouse.com/Solomon/

Seniors: We will be hosting class meetings next week, please check the Senior Class Google Classroom for more information. We will be discussing prom, graduation, and credit attainment.

Meal Program: The days for meal distribution are changing for next week only. Meals will be distributed on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 12 noon. Beginning the week of April 20, meals will be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays until further notice.

Enjoy Spring Break and some updates

Hello All,

Enjoy your Spring Break and stay safe!  After the break on April 13th, I will be assigning work on Google Classroom instead of the blog.  At this time, we are not allowed to put the grade in the grade book yet, but Mr. Cassidy and myself will be able to give you feedback on what you turn in.

Please check Google Classroom on April 13th as I am hoping to start posting the assignments there at that time, instead of this blog.

I am still not sure what is going on with grades, but what I can tell you is that we were told not to post our third period grades yet.  It looks like they will combine the 3rd and 4th marking periods, so your cumulative grade at the end of the year will be calculated from three marking periods, instead of the traditional 4 marking periods.

The information is changing all the time as this is something that the district has never experienced before.  Thank you for being patient and please email Mr. Cassidy or myself with any concerns or questions.

Work for 4/1

Earlier in the week, you read “Interlopers”.  Today, write me a paragraph on which point of view this story was told in.  Was it first person point of view, third-person limited point of view or third-person omniscient point of view?   In your paragraph, give me at least three examples to back up why you picked the point of view you did.

Look in your notes to review the definitions of the three different points of view to answer the question.

Work for 3/30

Listen to the story, “The Interlopers” which is on the bottom of this slide.   When finished, fill out a chart that looks like this:

Title – “The Interlopers”

Characters –

Setting –

Conflicts –

Main Events –

Climax and Resolution –
